The End of the Road
Sometimes we believe when we work very hard and we spend most of our time building, creating, doing, that the end of the road will be fruitful, that we will have something, that we will be able to feel fulfilled.
But oftentimes what happens is we never see the end of the road, we never get to that place.
How many times have we heard people say, “I’m working for my children.” But by the time they get to see their children, they are too old, too grown up, and don’t want to have anything to do with their lives.
So we need to see that we tie ourselves to things, we tie ourselves to work. Many times work is the thing that allows us to escape from our life. We tie ourselves to drugs and alcohol, to being something that we are not.
To be a slave to anything is denying the fact that we are part of the Creator. We have a soul inside of us that belongs to Him.
We have the ability to do what we want with this body of ours, be it negative or positive. All of us, indeed, will do negative things; there isn’t any question about that. We are alive, and as long as we breathe, we will do negative things.
But the work in this world - the game if you will, the game of life - is to overpower that negative and to appreciate our lives - and the people we love – now, this very moment.
